I said womb herbal smoking.
Have you heard of it? Maybe this is something you've seen on Tiktok but don't know exactly what it is, why many women do it, or what are the benefits.
Many cultures all over the world have adopted vaginal steaming or vaginal herbal smoking as a cleansing ritual. In Thai it is called "นั่งถ่าน" Nang Taan or siiting on hot charcoal with dried herbs. Nang Taan is a part of the Thai traditional postpartum care routine. This practice was used to heal the vagina and perineal area after childbirth. Today, traditional vaginal rituals are gaining popularity all around the world.
Why do we do vaginal herbal smoking?
The following are documented benefits:
🫀cleanse womb of toxins, blood and discharge after childbirth
🫀relieve irregular menstrual pain
🫀manage PH balance
🫀treat yeast infections
🫀alleviate vaginal dryness
🫀promote healing of the wound from an episiotomy
🫀regulate hormonal balance
🫀shrink fibroids and cyst
When to do womb herbal smoking?
According to applied Thai traditional medicine doctor Narichat Chuensakun, women can begin do Nang Taan as soon as they reach puberty. Nang Taan should be done with the supervision of an experienced healer.
There are several locations in Abu Dhabi where Nang Taan service is performed with lady spas or in home service providing the necessary privacy. It is advised to do Nang Taan at least once per month for cleansing. Some women do the ritual a week before starting their menstrual cycle, while others do it after intercourse as a form of self care. We don't recommend doing vaginal herbal smoking while menstruating or with the use of an IUD.
This is not recommended for pregnant women. This treatment is perfect after childbirth to foster womb care and vaginal healing. After giving birth, the womb and the vagina are sore and in need of time to be healed. Mothers after childbirth can do Nang Taan 7-10 days after natural birth or 35-45 days after cesarean birth. Vaginal herbal smoking is also great for menopause. During menopause, women experience dryness and soreness in the vagina. Nang Taan helps to restore moisture and aids in blood flow. Nang Taan can be used by women at different stages of life. All women can benefit from womb care.
